Are Art Deco Designs still available today?
Art Deco was a popular design movement which burst onto the world stage between 1925 and 1939. It is an amalgamation of many different art styles and is purely decorative. Art Deco drew inspiration from other 20th century movements, including; Neoclassical, Constructivism, Cubism, Modernism, Bauhaus, Art Nouveau, and Futurism. The Art Deco influence was felt across all areas of art and design, including; decorative, arts, architecture, fashion, film and jewellery design.
Art Deco Jewellery pieces are elegant, functional and modern; the style is often focused on bold colours and geometric shapes.
Darryn is strongly influenced by the Art Deco movement. Art Deco designs can be relatively simplistic or elaborate. The key Art Deco is fineness and proportion – each part of the design is seen in the context of the whole and there must be consistancy throughout, or the look is easly lost. Darryn has a passion for the Art Deco Period and loves designing and creating pieces from this era.
